Takikomi Gohan


  • 1.5-2 cups of rice (depending on your level of hunger)
  • Add the amount of water required to cook the rice you added
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of dashi
  • 1 tablespoon of mirin
  • 1 tablespoon of miso
  • 1 frozen salmon fillet (or two if you’re feeling it!)

Everything goes into the rice cooker and cook rice as per normal (I used my Philips electric pressure cooker to make this) Once ready, open up and mix it all up.

Add as much furikake as you like before serving

Bonus side dish:
Mushrooms in butter & soy

  • Pan fry mushrooms in butter and oil until charred
  • Add a tablespoon of soy and mix the charred mushrooms to finish off

No original recipe link, I took bits and pieces from everywhere. Recipe is very forgiving so feel free to add and replace salmon with carrots, cabbage, chicken etc (according to what’s in the fridge/what you feel like having)
